Our latest SLAC report highlights the stark realities faced by communities near the frontline, where evacuations and disruptions are rapidly reshaping daily life. Here are the key findings:
👥 Population Decline and Vulnerable Groups: Significant population decreases were recorded in Borova, Pidlyman, and Pisky-Radkivski due to active evacuations. Elderly individuals and persons with disabilities dominate the remaining populations, with Maliivka now reduced to just 31 residents.
🏚️ Infrastructure Damage and Access Challenges: Civilian infrastructure damage continues to worsen in Pidlyman and Nyzhche Solone, while Nyzhnia Zhuravka suffers severe structural damage. Road access has deteriorated further, limiting mobility during poor weather and intensified conflict activity.
🚰 Disrupted Basic Services: Water and electricity are available in most settlements, but water in Pidlyman is only suitable for technical use. Healthcare options are minimal or unavailable in many areas, with Maliivka relying entirely on Pisky-Radkivski for services.
🛒 Market Functionality and Accessibility: Markets are operational only in select areas like Pisky-Radkivski, while others, such as Nyzhnia Zhuravka, lack market access entirely. Security constraints and active conflict have rendered some settlements inaccessible.
